College football · collection log
Counting, not ranking.
The attention collector runs on all 138 FBS teams every week. It produces no index, no ranking and no play. That is the design, not an unfinished edge. This page exists to show what has been banked so far.
Why there is no number
A CFB attention index would mostly re-discover the schedule
Alabama and Georgia top the raw counts in a given week because they are playing each other on Saturday, which the betting market has already priced. Ranking teams by coverage would hand back the fixture list dressed as a signal.
The question that is not circular is team-relative: is this team getting more coverage than it normally gets? That needs a per-team baseline, and the news archive only begins in October 2026, so there is nothing yet to compare against.
A baseline is the one thing that cannot be built later. It can only be accumulated going forward, which is why collection started before the measure existed rather than after. Every week banked here is a week that could not have been recovered.

A team with no coverage in a week still gets a row. The zeros are data: a blank has to be distinguishable from the collector not running.
The open question
Two counts, kept side by side on purpose
The NFL model throws away any article tagging more than six teams, on the grounds that a league-wide roundup is noise. Carried into college football unchecked, that rule is destructive.
So both counts are stored and neither is chosen. That judgement gets settled on months of data, rather than baked in now by whoever happened to write the first version.
