Spice Bets is a paper betting log. It is not betting advice, it is not a tip service, and nothing on it is a recommendation to place any wager. It is published because the numbers are interesting and because publishing them keeps them honest.

What you do with any of it is your decision, and the consequences of that decision are yours.

What this site is

Every pick here is the output of a screener that reads posted market prices and betting splits. It is written down at the price that was offered at the time, and later graded against the price the market closed at. That gap is closing-line value, and it is the number this site leads with.

This is a line-movement book. It has no view on whether a team is good. Its fair value is derived from the same prices it bets into, which means its entry is always fair value minus the book's margin, and the only thing that can judge it is whether the market kept moving the way it bet. That is why the straight win-loss record sits near even and is shown anyway rather than hidden.

Everything on this site is paper. These are logged screener outputs, not betting slips. No figure anywhere on this site represents money staked, money won or money lost, and no real-money record is published here. Where the operator bets their own money, that is recorded privately and is not what any number on this site describes.

It is often wrong

The screeners are wrong regularly. No representation is made that any price, line, probability, record, percentage or other figure on this site is accurate, complete, current or fit for any purpose. Specifically:

Underlying data comes from third parties and may be incomplete, delayed, mislabelled or simply wrong, and can be changed or withdrawn without notice.
Prices move. An entry price shown here is what was on the board at the moment it was logged, and is frequently not what you will be offered.
Availability news - injuries, lineups, goalies, starters - changes minutes before a game, and a page here may have been built before it changed.
The screeners are changed over time. A pick logged today was not necessarily produced by the same rules as one logged two months ago, and where a rule changed it is dated on the Method page.
Pages can carry errors, stale content and outright bugs. Where a correction has made the numbers look better, it is named on the Method page rather than made quietly.

Past performance does not indicate future results. Every record and percentage here describes what has already happened. None of it predicts what happens next, and a positive closing-line figure over a few hundred picks is not a guarantee of anything over the next few hundred.

Not advice, and not a bookmaker

Neither buys influence over anything published here. No pick, price, grade, record or figure on this site is chosen, altered or withheld because of a commercial relationship, and the entry prices in the log are the prices that were actually on the board. If that ever stops being true, this paragraph gets rewritten rather than removed.
